Community Outreach

Backpack Manna Program

St. Andrews Parish UMC collects non-perishable, easy-to-prepare and ready-to-eat food items for children in need at three local elementary schools. These children receive lunch at school but have limited access to food over the weekend. Your donations make  a big difference. Food donations can be left in the sanctuary on Sundays in the bin provided. Please email standumc@gmail.com for details.

Little Free Library on the Path

In 2016, a congregation member generously donated a Little Free Library to St. Andrews Parish UMC. The library is located in front of the church on the Ashley River Road Bike Path. Books are free to borrow and available for community use. The library also accepts donations from anyone who has a favorite book to share.

Drayton Hall Elementary Goodies

Several years ago, a forgotten pan of cookies intended to welcome back college students in Charleston, was taken to Drayton Hall Elementary School by then Pastor Brad Gray.  These treats were so well received that a regular delivery of treats has continued to show our appreciation for all the school does for our students.  Thus began once-a-month deliveries of goodies.  Although treats were homemade for many years, in 2021, with the arrival of COVID all treats had to be commercially made.  This mission is possible only because of the support of all those donating the monthly goodies.  We, and all at DHES, are very grateful for their continued support.   To sign up to help, click HERE.
